Aleksandar Vučić says a new general hospital in Čačak worth 120 million euros will be built next year if he becomes prime minister, putting healthcare investment at the center of his election pitch and underscoring how Serbia is tying infrastructure, regional development and voter appeal together.
Serbia Plans 120M Euro Hospital in Čačak
The promise is economically significant because the hospital would be part of a broader public-investment program he said exceeds 1.3 billion euros for buildings alone, with at least 50% more earmarked for modern equipment. For a region where Vučić said incomes are only 85% of the national average, the pledge is also a signal that Belgrade intends to use state spending to narrow gaps in western Serbia and support local jobs, construction activity and service capacity.

Vučić also said the government would keep expanding roads across Moravički, Zlatiborski, Kolubarski and Raški districts, while additional spending would go to local industrial employers such as Sloboda Čačak and potential new foreign investors. He framed the hospital as a way to reduce pressure on Belgrade-based facilities by giving patients access to more advanced treatment closer to home.
For investors, the immediate read is less about a direct market trade and more about what the pledge says on fiscal policy, regional capital spending and Serbia’s investment climate. More public works could support construction firms, suppliers and local labor demand, but they also imply continued reliance on state spending ahead of an election and a heavier pipeline of public projects that will need financing, procurement and execution.
The announcement comes as healthcare spending remains a political and economic flashpoint across Europe, with governments under pressure to expand capacity and modernize facilities. In Serbia, the next catalyst is whether the election pledge turns into a budgeted project and whether the state can deliver the hospital, infrastructure and equipment on the timeline Vučić outlined.
