Pakistan’s listed vehicle prices remain deeply elevated, underscoring how inflation, imported-input costs and a weak local currency continue to squeeze affordability for buyers and support pricing power for automakers and dealers. Toyota’s latest Pakistan price list shows the Land Cruiser at PKR 156.829 million, with the Hilux at PKR 16.149 million and the Corolla at PKR 6.169 million, while more mainstream models such as the Aqua still cost PKR 4.5 million.
Pakistan Vehicle Prices Stay Elevated as Inflation Bites
The pricing backdrop matters because vehicle demand is highly sensitive to financing costs and household purchasing power. Pakistan’s consumer price index is still running far above pre-shock levels, with the gauge at 336.298 in September versus 237.336 in early 2016, a reminder that car ownership remains out of reach for a wide slice of the market. In the U.S., the 10-year Treasury yield was last around 5.15%, a level that keeps auto loan costs elevated and adds pressure to discretionary big-ticket purchases.
Sentiment Indicators
Investors are watching the same affordability squeeze across the auto sector. Toyota Motor shares have held near $196.53, above the 50-day moving average of $191.01, even as the stock trades just below the 200-day average of $199.7. Honda Motor shares were last at $34.25, also above its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, suggesting markets are still giving global automakers credit for pricing resilience despite a tougher rate environment.
The broader narrative is that carmakers with strong brand equity and supply control can still pass through cost pressures, but volume growth is harder to sustain when financing costs remain high and consumers are stretched. That mix favors premium and utility vehicles with stronger margins, while mass-market affordability stays under pressure in markets like Pakistan and in rate-sensitive segments globally.
The next catalyst is whether easing inflation and any pullback in U.S. yields translate into better vehicle affordability, or whether persistent borrowing costs keep demand confined to higher-income buyers and fleet-driven sales.
