The Stockholm Stock Exchange opened higher on Friday, with the OMXS30 rising 0.8% to 3,264.33, keeping Sweden’s benchmark near its highest levels of the year even as momentum indicators show the rally has cooled.
OMXS30 Opens Higher, Holds Above Key Averages

The advance matters because it comes with the index still above its 50-day moving average of 3,253.0 and well above its 200-day average of 3,098.64, a sign that the broader uptrend remains intact despite recent volatility. The OMXS30 has gained sharply from a March low near 2,865, reflecting a rebound in risk appetite for Swedish equities and a more constructive tone across European markets.
Still, the move is not a clean breakout. The relative strength index at 43.5 points to a market that is no longer overbought, while the MACD remains below its signal line, suggesting the pace of the rally has slowed. That leaves investors watching whether buyers can defend support around the 3,250 area or whether the index drifts back toward its lower Bollinger Band near 3,210.
For investors, the key question is whether the Swedish market can keep outperforming in a global environment that remains sensitive to growth, rate expectations and earnings revisions. A steadier Stockholm open also tends to support domestically exposed cyclicals and financials, while reducing pressure on large-cap exporters that have driven much of the index’s long-term gains.
The next test is whether the OMXS30 can push through the 3,300 area and reclaim stronger upside momentum, or whether the market pauses after a run that has left it vulnerable to profit-taking.
