Gold prices in Delhi climbed ₹1,900 to ₹1,54,400 per 10 grams on Friday, while silver surged ₹4,500 to ₹2,28,500 a kilogram, as a softer U.S. dollar and firmer global bullion markets pulled investors back toward precious metals.
Gold Prices in Delhi Rise to ₹1,54,400
That matters because gold and silver are doing what they often do best: acting as a store of value when currency strength fades and uncertainty rises. For Indian buyers, the move is especially important because the rupee’s weakness can lift import costs on metals that are largely sourced overseas, making domestic prices move even faster than global quotes.
Sentiment Indicators
The latest jump extended gold’s winning streak to a second straight session and added another ₹4,600 over two trading days, or about 3%. Silver, which had just fallen sharply the previous day, also found support after a flat start to the week. In global markets, spot gold rose 1.17% to $4,181.98 an ounce, while silver rebounded about 2% to $60.32 an ounce after touching a three-month low.
For investors, the move is less about a one-day price spike and more about the backdrop. Adalytica’s Gold Fear & Greed Index shows sentiment at 81, a “Greed” reading, while U.S. dollar trade signals are flashing “Extreme Greed,” a mix that often accompanies renewed momentum in bullion. The broader stability gauge is also showing elevated anxiety, underscoring why some money keeps flowing into gold even after sharp run-ups.
The technical picture supports that view. Gold futures are still trading below their 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which suggests the metal has not fully repaired its longer-term downtrend even after the rebound. Silver remains more volatile, but its surge from recent lows shows how quickly traders can pile back in when the dollar softens.
Long-term investors should see this for what it is: another reminder that precious metals are driven by macro forces, not just local retail demand. A weaker dollar, geopolitical unease, and periodic swings in risk appetite can all lift gold and silver, but neither metal compounds earnings the way businesses do. That makes them useful as portfolio diversifiers, not core wealth-builders.
For households in India, the price move also raises the immediate cost of buying jewelry or bullion. For miners and bullion-linked funds, it improves near-term pricing power. For everyone else, it reinforces the case for patience and discipline: if you want exposure, size it modestly and think in years, not days. Gold and silver are worth watching, and for investors who already own them, the current rebound is a reason to stay measured rather than chase.
