BMW has launched the new 7 Series in Egypt, with the 740i starting at 11.9 million Egyptian pounds, positioning the flagship sedan squarely at the top end of the country’s luxury-car market.
BMW 7 Series launches in Egypt at 11.9 million pounds
The timing matters because the 7 Series is BMW’s most expensive large sedan in Egypt and a key margin product for the brand’s local importer, Global Auto. In a market where premium buyers are paying increasingly for technology, exclusivity and status, the launch gives BMW a fresh halo model to defend share against other ultra-luxury imports and to keep its brand visible among affluent consumers.
Global Auto unveiled the car at the El Gouna Film Festival, where BMW is marking a fourth straight year as the event’s luxury-car partner. The launch was staged to link the sedan with Egypt’s elite entertainment scene, underscoring how premium automakers in the region use lifestyle events to reach high-income buyers rather than relying only on showroom traffic.
The 740i arrives with BMW’s Neue Klasse design language and the Panoramic iDrive cockpit, including a 17.9-inch central screen, a 14.6-inch front-passenger display and a 31.3-inch rear Theatre Screen. It also brings a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, rated at 400 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque, good for 0-100 kph in 5.4 seconds.
For investors, the launch highlights the economics of luxury-car pricing in a high-import-cost market: BMW can command premium pricing on technology-heavy flagships even as volumes remain limited. The model also helps reinforce the brand’s upper-tier positioning in Egypt after the launch of the iX3, another Neue Klasse-linked model, suggesting BMW is using its newest technology platform to refresh both its electric and combustion lineups.
The key near-term watchpoint is whether demand from affluent Egyptian buyers can absorb a seven-figure price tag in a market still sensitive to currency and import conditions. That will determine whether the 7 Series serves mainly as a brand statement or a meaningful contributor to local sales mix.
